Plastic pollution is very real and single-use plastics are small but have a large impact. Did you know that half a million straws are used in the world every day, that it’s estimated that 4 trillion plastic bags are used worldwide annually? Or that only 1% of plastic bags are returned for recycling, that we buy about 1,000,000 plastic bottles per minute in total or that 500 billion disposable cups are consumed every year? These numbers are terrifying aren’t they?

Most plastic is unnecessary – designed for one use, or designed for the dump. It’s bad for our health. We all can to cut down on our use of plastics and we can start by taking the challenge and ‘Choose To Refuse’ single-use plastic during July.

Imagine a world without plastic waste. That’s our mission – to build a global movement that dramatically reduces plastic use and improves recycling, worldwide. Will you join us and give up single-use plastic this July? Go to www.plasticfreejuly.org/living-plastic-free.html for information on how you can take the challenge!
