We have been campaigning against the North East Link for two years. Whereas we have not overturned it we have gained a lot of respect for our commitment and local knowledge. The project is now reaching a critical point with the release of the Environment Effects Statement (EES) on April 10th 2019, and the Public Environment Report (PER) yesterday, April 16th. Both are on exhibition for 30 days or so. The committee will continue to advocate strongly for the local environment by preparing a submission on both the EES and PER, and by attending the Panel Hearings that follow on in July/August. With help from Banyule Council and many experts we hope to make a difference – save trees, prevent pollution, avoid stormwater into creeks etc.
