WCS remains opposed to the North East Link, but we continue to engage at all levels. Tonight we hosted a special meeting with ecologists engaged by the North East Link Authority to collect ecological data to inform the Environment Effects Statement, a large document in which the State Government must set out all the environmental risks and mitigations of the project. At our meeting we heard about the data collection so far – past records and new surveys – into the flora and fauna along the project’s length; also potential threats to water quality, hydrology, and riparian and in-stream vegetation.
